Our theme on this special weekend is…
Nourishing the nurturer in you. Reconnecting you with your joy.
We all have nurturing instincts and roles – caring, growing, guiding and protecting families, friendships, projects, and people.
Over this weekend, we will take time to give back to ourselves and to each other – drawing on the deep well of yin yoga wisdom to rest body and soul on this nourishing retreat.
Connecting with the spirit of Spring to bring ourselves back to life and joy – what is ready to rise in you this year? What can we clear away as no longer needed, and with thanks let it go?
Joanne will be sharing skills for emotional and physical resilience, alongside experiential sessions in restorative and yin yoga, walks in the countryside, deep relaxation, creative sessions, Reiki treatments and time to just rest and reinspire in beautiful nature.
Whether you want to gain insight, to make a change, or simply to get away, our light-hearted powerful processes and incisive coaching will create the conditions for you to rest and find some ease with the questions you’re currently living.
Stanton Guildhouse is the perfecting setting for a nurturing retreat.
Nestled above the picturesque village of Stanton, just south of Broadway, the Cotswold Way passes within a few feet of Stanton Guildhouse. This warm and cosy Grade II Listed Manor House has been lovingly built in a traditional style, for a homely feel throughout.
Arrive at the large sitting room on entrance, which has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner stove adding warmth to those chilly March nights and a peaceful area, perfect for reading and enjoying some quiet time.
Surrounding the Guildhouse is exquisite countryside with stunning views stretching over the Vale of Evesham to the Brecon Beacons – a breath-taking landscape to inspire you.
We arrive for 6 pm on Friday and depart, refreshed and renewed, by 3 pm on Sunday.

“I was fortunate enough to go on retreat with Jo in March 2023, and it was a fantastic experience. the venue was one of the best I’ve stayed in, the food was delicious and nurturing and so plentiful. The balance of yoga, meditation and focus on wellness was really carefully planned, and I left feeling rejuvenated. Jo and Carl created a really special atmosphere for us – welcoming, non-judgemental, caring, and creative. It was really special.”
“Jo has a special gifts when it comes to holding retreats. She creates wonderfully magical and supportive experiences whether it’s a one day event or a weekend retreat. I have now been to three (and planning my fourth) and at every one I have hit on an important insight. Time with Jo is so special and something I look forward to all year.”
“It felt such a treat to go to one of Joanne Sumner Wellbeing’s retreats in the Autumn. It was my first retreat so I didn’t know what to expect. I found the welcome was warm and our activities structured in a gently guided sort of way (nothing was obligatory). We had space and time for ourselves or to spend with others depending on our mindset. The venue in Stanton Vale was so comfortable with fabulous food. A highlight for me was working through a couple of stuck issues and I came home with renewed emotional strength and a refreshed body. Everything I could have asked for and more. I had a Reiki session which was fabulous. I will be going again…”
“If you get the chance to attend one of Jo’s retreat, then don’t hesitate. You won’t regret it. The retreat I joined in the Cotswolds a couple of years ago was exceptional, and far exceeded my already high expectations. Stanton was the most magical venue, I could have stayed there for weeks. The weekend was a brilliant combination of gentle movement, thoughtful life-coaching sessions, delicious food and great company. There was just the right balance between organised activity (which was all optional) and then time to yourself if you wanted it. Jo led the sessions with such skill – she is thoughtful, wise, non judgemental, and has a very cheeky sense of humour. I left feeling fortified and refreshed, and the things I learnt put me in a great place to deal with life’s challenges. I would go again in a flash.”
“Having thoroughly enjoyed a virtual retreat with Joanne Sumner Wellbeing during lockdown I decided to go on one of Jo’s in-person weekend retreats in Stanton in the Cotswolds. It was an absolutely beautiful setting in a special house made especially for creative endeavour. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend; the programme was gentle but full. Not too much or too little of anything. We were guided through all parts of the meditation, coaching and movement which all felt nurturing and inspiring. I came home feeling very ‘zen’.”
“Just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful weekend. I am carrying it in my soul. The setting, format and company were a tonic, supporting and inspiring. I feel an inner peace I have not had for a very long time. For me, the group coaching sessions were the most beneficial and being given the space to discuss and think. Can’t wait to do another.”
“Thank you for introducing me to a new world I knew nothing about.”
“Thank you for your enthusiasm and sense of fun in helping make my experience at the retreat so enjoyable, once again. I felt relaxed and nurtured and looking forward to the weeks ahead.”
“I am so happy I finally made it to one of your retreats 🙂 It was a wonderful few days away – extremely relaxing and beneficial in so many ways. The programme included everything that I would have wanted and it was lovely to be with people that I felt so comfortable with. It was great to have the time to reflect and receive guidance – a very special experience. I really loved the evening celebration for the summer solstice! Thank you so much for all the work that you put into providing such an amazing weekend, and please thank Neil again for the superb food (especially the profiteroles…)”
“Jo is a fantastic teacher! She loves what she does and that always comes through. In my sessions with her in yoga, meditation and on retreats I have experienced incredibly well-planned organisation as well as genuinely loving support. Her humour, truthful perception, knowledge and kindness always leave you feeling uplifted.”
“Thank you for a lovely few days of relaxation and reflection. As always, it was inspiring to be able to spend time in your company and to talk things through. I felt a huge benefit from that. Thank you for the flower remedy, I have been using it today. It is certainly helping me to stay focussed on keeping myself grounded.”
“Thank you again for such a wonderful experience this weekend. It delivered exactly what I didn’t completely know I needed in terms of healing and also energetically. I have learned so much and shall treasure the output of my gluing and sticking throughout 2019. I have also enjoyed journaling for the first time and will use it to work through some what ifs.”
“My first retreat and it was such an amazing and beautiful experience. I loved every minute of it and met some incredible people. Thank you so much Jo.”
“Really lovely retreats by Joanne Sumner, highly recommended, she is a very gentle, caring, nurturing and inspiring person and this is reflected in the experience I had on one of her retreats a few years ago.”
